Baby Home Day

I spent a long, exhausting, beautiful day at the baby home this past week while the staff went for an outing to the beach. Dennis and Jay's family went with them as it was their depedita (good bye party). It was a really fun day despite the longness of it! By the end I was just about ready to topple over! It gave me a whole new respect for the tlc workers and how consistently patient and loving they are in the face of basically being the parents of these babies! They are so gentle and caring. It's exhausting work!!! Working in the child center or baby sitting in America are totally different from helping at the baby home. These babies live here and as you care for them, you are acting as their family, their temporary parents, and their care-givers all at once!

My lovely friend Bryon helped me out by being with me in the baby room all day. His mom, Ate Sol as well as his big sister, Margery helped with the up stairs babies. Ate Sol was so great, she made all the food for us and the babies and helped us with bathing them. Earlier Deb had said that Bryon could just come in every once in a while throughout the day to give me a break, but he decided to stay the whole day! He was there before I got there and left when I left! He was a huge help, I could never have done it without him! Not only did he keep me company and give the babies gentle and loving care, he also made me laugh even when I was feeling exhausted! Pong pong, one of Bryon's and my friends also came by to help out for a few hours. They were both so natural and helpful with the babies!

  1. They're all beautiful, Marli! What a great experience -- we can hardly wait to hear all about it in person (well, Bj and I are waiting to hear, Jm just wants to show you how he can swim!).

Savor your last few days... And see you mid July when we get back from Canada!
