Liana and I

I met a new, dear, and wonderful friend during my last three weeks in the Philippines! She was visiting the Philippines in order to experience health care there. Although she didn't live at the birthing home we got to spend quite a bit of time together, participating in births and monitoring labors. Before long we were going to the markets, immigration and grocery store together. I cannot explain how fabulous it was to go out to eat and watch movies with someone I could so easily talk and relate to. It was a beautiful, lovely, and spontaneous friendship that truly blessed my heart! I thank God so much for the short time we had together, it was truly refreshing!

These are photos from our last outing together:

This time with Liana was such a relief and a blessing in many ways. It was a time of rest and great enjoyment for me. She helped me learn how to bargain better, which we made into our main activity at the markets.

A few weeks before this visit to the market there had been a fire there. I had been to the market before the fire and it was sad to see the empty areas and the great damage.

We took a break from the heat in Mcdonalds for our favorite snack, a coke float

This group of filipinos were playing bingo, except they didn't have any chips so they used uncooked pasta pieces instead

This section of the market holds mostly food

Gulay and frutas (vegetables and fruit) such as kangkong (a leafy lettuce) and kalamonsi (sort of like a lime)

Or not

The filipino staple: fish

I never did try a purple egg

We finished the day with shopping at the mall and lunch at Pizza Hut
